Eight months ago, the United States Postal Service shuttered Sioux City's mail processing plant.
Friday, we learned a longtime Sioux City company is taking over the facility for a multi-phase expansion.
Consumer Supply manufactures and distributes agricultural products.
It employs 70 people. Though they don't expect to add more than a couple of jobs in the near future, the city says it's important to note that this government building will now be on the tax rolls.
"This is kind of part of a long range plan to expand in Sioux City. We're really excited about that. It's a high-quality company," said Sioux City Economic Development Director Marty Dougherty.
The processing plant will be converted into Consumer Supply's distribution center.
Then, the manufacturing arm of the business will take over their current 160,000 square foot facility on Harbor Drive.
