Sioux City has received another multi-million dollar federal grant for the Southbridge
The city's already $2 million for the rail yard it needs to attract industry. They received another $3 million this week.
The Economic Development Department will move ahead with plans for the rail yard, which is only 30% designed.
Construction could begin as early as next year.
"That's a huge advantage for Sioux City and for the South Bridge Business Park because a lot of companies are looking for rail service, and especially major, larger kinds of industrial companies. It provides them with another means to move goods in the United States. It's efficient," said Economic Development Director Marty Dougherty.
The total cost of the project is $6.7 million.
