The Sioux City Explorers lost their fourth straight game, 5-2, to Wichita on Saturday night.
The X's (17-20) have lost six of their last seven games, while Wichita improved the league-best record to 27-8.
Wichita starter Ryan Hinton went eight innings, allowing just five hits and two runs. The top four batters in the X's lineup went 0-for-15 while Ryan Priddy, Wally Backman, Jr., and Mike Murphy each had two hits for the X's.
Richard Salazar took the loss for the X's. He threw seven innings, giving up eight hits and five runs while striking out five.
The four game series ends on Sunday at 6:05 at Lewis and Clark Park. Sioux City will start a three game series in Winnipeg on Monday.
