The U.S. Supreme Court will wait until Thursday to rule on the constitutionality of President Obama's health care reform law.
But, Iowa governor Terry Branstad issued a ruling of his own. Gov. Terry Branstad, (R) Iowa said, "One thing is clear, Obamacare is a bad law." In Sioux City, Monday morning, Branstad spent the first few minutes of a press conference at the Siouxland Chamber bashing the president's health care reform... and its effect on Iowa.
The law, which requires every American to have health insurance, also expands Medicaid. Branstad claimed the law adds 150,000 people to the Medicaid rolls in the "hawkeye state"... with no way to pay for it. Gov. Terry Branstad, (R) Iowa said, "In addition to the cost, Obamacare is a massive invasion of our individual freedoms. The law creates a government taskforce in charge of deciding what preventive services are worthwhile, and a government panel in charge of deciding what services seniors can receive."
Branstad believes the law is unconstitutional. And, if the U-S Supreme Court doesn't strike down the entire law, Branstad says it should be repealed and replaced by Congress, next year.
