MADISON, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -
A Nebraska woman facing charges of concealing the dead body of her husband from authorities in a camper the two shared won't be going to trial.
Jeanne Fry, 63, had felony charges of unlawful discarding of human remains dismissed Monday in Madison County District Court.
The Madison County submitted his motion to dismiss the charges without Fry or her legal counsel in the courtroom.
Fry was accused of concealing the dead body of her husband Jack in a camper the two shared at the Madison City Campground.
Authorities believe Jack had been dead for months when he was found last November. When arrested, Fry told officers she didn't report her husband's death for religious reasons.
Monday, county officials said that Fry had already spent six months in county jail while her case worked through the court system.
Fry was released last month on a personal recognizance bond last month and county officials say she has since found a place to stay and is "doing well."
Given those circumstances, the District Court judge agreed to dismiss the charges against Fry.
The County also will be sealing the results of a mental evaluation of Fry that had been ordered earlier this year. Her trial had been set to start in two weeks.
