SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
American Airlines calls it "business as usual" despite on-going talks with union pilots, flight attendants and mechanics and emerging from Chapter 11.
American Eagle, a subsidiary of American Airlines, spoke to members the Downtown Sioux City Rotary Club today.
Since they've started flying out of Sioux Gateway Airport on April 3rd, airport officials say the two flights a day to Chicago average about 90% full.
And they're hoping more passengers will choose Sioux Gateway instead of driving to bigger markets.
While it's still too early to assess the numbers, they're pleased with the support.
"We appreciate Sioux City. We have a partnership here and we just want to see it grow from two flights. We want to see it go to three, four and the sky is the limit," Dale Morris, American Airlines Managing Director of Government Affairs and Community Relations said.
Morris said American Airlines hopes to be out of bankruptcy by the end of the year.
