Care packages boxed up for local troops

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

The support for Siouxland troops is ongoing.  Those with loved ones deployed overseas boxed up care packages Monday night.

Support Siouxland Soldiers teamed with the 185th Air Refueling Wing to fill about 60 boxes with food, hygiene items, and cards.

"They are away from home, they are away from family and friends. And this is a way for the Siouxland community to let them know that we thank them for their service and they haven't been forgotten," said Sarah Petersen, Support Siouxland Soldiers.

The boxes will be shipped all over the world, but most of the area troops are in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Support Siouxland Soldiers sends packages every month until that service member returns home.

All the items are donated.
