SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Water rates will go up for Sioux City residents July 1st.
Monday night, the Sioux City City Council approved the rate hike. They say the increase in necessary to pay for state-mandated projects.
Rates will go up 7% each of the next three years. The city says the average homeowner will see a five-dollar increase per month.
Council members are hoping for a new industry to take some of the burden off existing property owners. They plan to revisit the second and third rate hikes before they take effect.
