SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Monday night, the council agreed to help finance an affordable housing project on the northside of town.
Moos Meadows has given five families the opportunity to become first time homeowners. Monday's decision paves the way for the final four houses to be built.
The homes cost more to build than they are sold for, and are partially subsidized with federal funds.
State-mandated green technology will up the price of the homes in phase two, from under $100-thousand to $130-thousand.
Qualifications have also changed. Homeowners must meet a 120% median income level versus the 80% level required for the first phase of homes.
