SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Beginning next week, you'll see more officers on the roadways all three Siouxland states.

State Patrol Troopers plan to step up enforcement on July 3rd for the Independence Day Holiday.  It will continue through July 8th.  The goal is to keep the number of accidents and fatalities down during holiday travel.

Drivers are reminded to always wear their seat belt, obey the posted speed limit and never drive impaired or distracted.

South Dakota also has sobriety checkpoints scheduled throughout the month in several counties, including Lincoln and Yankton.
