SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
A fire heavily damaged a home in Sioux City's Morningside neighborhood. When crews arrived at 3102 Leech Avenue the home was engulfed.
The fire broke out shortly before 4:00pm on Tuesday.
According to Sioux City Fire Rescue, no one was home at the time.
However, there were pets inside.
Neighbors were able to rescue one dog, but another didn't make it out.
Crews say the heat was so intense the siding on the home next door, was warped and melted.
"Ten minutes before we could start to make entry, and 20 minutes, we had the fire pretty much under control. And now we've just got the small spot fires that we're trying to knock down," said Jesse Pedersen, Sioux City Fire and Rescue Public Information Officer.
The home is considered a total loss. The cause is still under investigation.
