UPDATE: Names released after fatal accident near Pierson, IA

NEAR PIERSON, Iowa (KTIV) -

A Sioux City man is dead after authorities say the van he was driving collided head on with a semi near Pierson, Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says 40-year-old Paul Mann Junior was the driver of the full-size van and was killed in the crash.

It happened shortly after seven 'o clock Tuesday morning.

The semi driver, 55 year old Charles French of Lawton, was flown to Mercy Medical Center with injuries described as non life-threatening.

Authorities say the van had been north-bound on county road L-25 when it crossed into the other lane and into the path of the semi.
