SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Come Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to announce a pivotal decision on the president's healthcare reform law.
One local hospital is bracing itself for the decision, whether or not the bill or portions are found unconstitutional.
Right now, the law requires Americans to buy health insurance. If they don't, they would be penalized.
It would also make institutions, including religious-affiliated ones, provide an insurance plan that covers contraception and abortion-inducing drugs.
The head of St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City says his team is focused on continuing the work on their own health care initiatives.
"Federal policy's important and has an influence, but we have to move forward on those initiatives anyway. So, we're going to just continue on that path regardless, and we'll adapt to the federal and state legislation as it changes," said Peter Thoreen, St. Luke's Regional Medical Center CEO.
A recent NBC News-Wall Street Journal Poll shows that more Americans favor the Supreme Court striking down the entire bill.
