LINN GROVE, Iowa (KTIV) -
After three days of searching there's still no sign of a man feared drowned in the Little Sioux River.
As officers from Buena Vista County and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources scour the Little Sioux River, family and friends of Lithavomgsay Nouthavykoun keep watch on shore.
Brother in-law Daniel Scott said, "It's not like him to just jump in the water, ya know, and he knows how to swim."
Nouthavykoun, 30, of Storm Lake, Iowa is known to most as Kee. He disappeared about 5pm Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses claim Kee said he was hot and jumped into the water to cool off.
Buena Vista County Sheriff Gary Launderville said, "Shortly after he popped up out of the water and was yelling for help. One of the other gentleman on shore tried to go back and get him and he had went back under water and he didn't resurface after that."
Since that time, two boats have been searching an area downstream of the Linn Grove Dam, hoping for any sign of him.
Gary Launderville, added,"It's just a matter of search and look. We searched shore and the water last night and we were able to come up with nothing."
"Kee's" brother-in-law and a friend are searching as well and lighting candles in his honor, hoping he'll be found.
Daniel Scott summed it up by saying, "Wherever he is he's safe, ya know? That he's in a good place."
The search will continue on Friday.
