NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -
Just over 18 months after voters in Norfolk, Nebraska agreed to fund improvements to the city's recreation facilities, most of the work is done and the ribbon will be officially cut this weekend.
Over the past couple of weeks, the focus has been mostly on the opening of Norfolk's new Memorial Aquaventure Water Park.
But, the sporting complex also includes renovations to the football, soccer and baseball facilities.
The football and soccer field was done last fall, but it wasn't until this spring that the baseball field and the water park were finished and ready for public use.
Saturday morning at 9 a.m., city officials and local dignitaries will gather at Veterans Memorial Park for the ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration. City leaders say the event will begin with a special tribute to our Veterans followed by remarks from local leaders.
Then, following the ceremony, tours will be given of the entire facility until noon.
The celebration Saturday is free and open to the public.
