South Dakota will get to opt out of the No Child Left Behind Law.
An Obama administration official says the Rushmore State was among five granted relief today from key requirements of the law.
24 states now have been approved for waivers.
The law requires all students be proficient in math and reading by 2014.
The waiver allow South Dakota to develop their own accountability plans, focusing on preparing students for college and improving teacher effectiveness and school performance.
Iowa was denied a waiver from the law last week.
