SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Derek Miles and Jeremy Scott will be making the trek to London to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

Miles will be representing the United States for the third time in his career while it'll be Scott's first donning the Red, White and Blue.

Qualifying for the Olympics is hard enough as it is, but add in injuries and it makes it even tougher.

The training partners were both suffering from injuries during the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.

Scott was hampered by tendonitis in his knee, Miles an Achilles injury.

"The last couple of months and have been really tough with an Achilles problem," said Miles.  "And, then the last couple months, the fine tuning hasn't been able to take place so that was the nerve racking part. But, you know, at least getting through this part it affords us a little bit more time to get things under control."

"You know the last few years have been ok, but this year we've kind of had to go to ‘plan b' type stuff to find a way to just do something and get past this tendonitis going on in my knee," Scott said."  I think I've gotten the problem taken care of but there is still a ways to go as far as and speed and that type of stuff."
