SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa (KTIV) -
The 4th of July is Wednesday, but some Siouxlanders are celebrating our nation's independence a little early.
Members from the 185th Air Refueling Wing performed a ceremony, and presented the colors for residents at the Embassy Rehab and Care Center, in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.
They also demonstrated how to fold a flag and explained what the 13 folds mean.
They say the holiday is an important way to remember, and honor, our country and those who have and continue to serve it.
"It is a great time to thankful. To be thankful that we are Americans. That we live in this great country that we have the freedom, because freedom isn't free," Technical Sergeant Kimberly Huberer, 185th Air Refueling Wing said.
In the audience were some members of the military who served in different conflicts, one of them was James Foster.
He served in Korea, and says it's important to honor the flag.
"I think everybody should celebrate the flag and display their flag and remember the people that didn't make it through the war and the ones that were wounded and captured," James H. Foster, Sergeant Bluff, IA said.
