Campers return to Scenic Park a year after flooding

Posted:
SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) -

Some folks didn't have to drive far to enjoy themselves.

Many camped out in South Sioux City's Scenic Park.

That's not something they could do last summer, when historic flooding drowned the park.

Things are dry now, and the park is packed!

"It's just nice to see the park come back to life again. It was kind of heartbreaking last year, couldn't camp," said Terry Lovett, Ida Grove, Iowa.

"Lot different and it's cleaned up really good. Trees, they put in some new trees. It really looks nice," said Rose Ramirez, Sioux City.

Because of the heat, most people chose to enjoy the air conditioned comfort of their campers.

Another option?

Taking a dip in the pool at the nearby Norm Waitt Senior YMCA.
