SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
He was an artist and engineer and his work and ideas are coming to Sioux City.
Sioux City Art Center staff are unpacking Leonardo da Vinci's art work and inventions, getting ready for its seventh Blockbuster event.
They started on Monday and hope to finish next week.
23 reproductions of drawings and paintings will be on display and around 40 inventions.
"He was curious about everything around him. So he was curious about how we see and how he could make a painting seem more naturalist but then at the same time he was curious about how things worked. That's why he was so interested in engineering and inventions and trying to figure out how the world worked," Al Harris-Fernandez, the Art Center Director said.
Many of the inventions are still relevant today and art center staff say this exhibit will have a broad audience appeal.
"The most exciting thing is that this is such a complete presentation of a slice of history. A really important time when art was advancing, which is cool for the Art Center but it was a time when everything was advancing," Todd Behrens, an Art Center Curator said.
The Leonardo da Vinci, New Blockbuster Exhibition opens July 14th and runs through October 14th.
The cost is $10-for adults.
