ELK POINT, S.D. (KTIV) -
In a down economy, one company is poised to add jobs because of a growing demand.
In Elk Point, S.D., Mark's Welding will be adding up to 50 new jobs in the fall.
Right now, the business has 22 full time and 14 part time employees who contribute to their projects. Their main business now: constructing mobile houses for those working on oil rigs.
The company has kept its employee pool local in its first few months of existence and hopes to keep it that way.
"We'll be taking and testing another ten people, promoting from within. They've practiced. They're getting to be very, very good welders," said Mark Vander Laan, owner of Mark's Welding.
Mark's Welding distributes their products all over the country. Since opening in February, they've completed 70 projects.
They'll be hiring additional employees for their new shop in Richland, S.D., starting in September.
