ALTOONA, Iowa (KTIV) -
The Iowa Racing and Gaming commission has rejected a request to extend the contract for Sioux City's Argosy Casino until 2015. Instead, the panel voted unanimously Thursday morning to extend the deal through March of 2013.
Missouri River Historical Development, which holds the gambling license for the riverboat, has agreed to the terms. However, Argosy owner Penn National Gaming has not. It wants a longer-term contract through 2015.
IRGC members say if Penn National Gaming does not agree to the 2013 contract by the commission's next meeting in August it will not be in compliance with Iowa law.
News Four's Forrest Saunders was at the IRGC meeting in Altoona and will have reaction. Stay tuned to KTIV News Four both on-air and online.
