New amenity finds its way to Spirit Lake

NEAR SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa (KTIV/KUOO) -

Boaters, anglers, and those just looking to relax, have a brand new amenity available to them on Big Spirit Lake.

The Spirit Lake Protective Association has built a new dock and public access on the south shore, near the city of Spirit Lake's pump house.

A dedication ceremony for the new structure was held over the Fourth of July. It was in conjunction with a parade of boats and the annual fireworks display over the lake, all sponsored by the association each year.

The group is also restoring a historic shelter house on the lake's north shore.
