SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (KTIV) -
With the kickoff to "RAGBRAI" less than a week away, some cyclists are dusting off their bikes and getting ready for the week long event.
No one in Sioux Center wheels and deals quite like the owner of "Brothers Bike Shop." From the latest bikes to the antiques, and everything in between, David Eekoff knows how to run a bike store.
David Eekoff, owner said, "It's a long commitment, it really is. I've sold bicycles to people that now in the past few years brought their bicycles back to me saying that they really felt like they were too old to ride anymore and they wanted me to sell their bicycles."
Eekoff strives to give his customers guaranteed satisfaction, both young and old.
He added, "One of the biggest advantages to purchasing in this community or in this area is that I'm here ready to help them."
That help, will be offered to the 20-25 thousand expected cyclists to kick off RAGBRAI. This business owner has been around the block, when Sioux Center last held RAGBRAI a decade ago.
"Buying last minute bags or water bottles or whatever they need, a spare bike tube. So it's a frenzy, it's an amazing experience."
An amazing experience that all of Sioux Center is putting in gear.
Eekoff claimed, "We knew that the way the logistics are here, the kind of community support that's experienced here. We knew it was going to be a piece of cake for this community to do it right."
Doing it right, one set of wheels at a time.
Eekoff summed it up, "It's an amazing mechanized ride. You get all these bicycles and put together all those wheels and everybody's rolling. It's all down hill from here."
