Drivers warned about obstructed views from tall corn

Posted:
DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) -

With the corn crop now fully grown, drivers are being urged to use extra caution at roadway intersections and railroad crossings where the view may be blocked.  The Iowa Department of Transportation says there were 28 crashes last year at rural intersections due to obstructed views by crops or trees.

One person was killed and at least 34 injured.

The safety director of the D-O-T says drivers should treat uncontrolled intersections as if they had stop or yield signs posted.
