POCAHONTAS COUNTY, Iowa (KTIV) -- -
Add another northwest Iowa county to the growing list of those with burn bans in place.
Pocahontas has been added to a list that includes Plymouth and Lyon.
The Iowa State Fire Marshal warns the state is a "tinder box" and is urging people to be extremely careful with lit cigarettes and outdoor burning.
Nearly one-third of Iowa is now under a burn ban. During a burn ban a permit is needed from a fire chief to have a controlled burn. Violators can be cited or arrested.
