DAKOTA CITY, Neb. (KTIV) -

Tense moments for a family in Siouxland Tuesday night after a suspect fleeing from police crashed a stolen vehicle into their home.

Jordan Waters, 18, of Pine Ridge, South Dakota faces eight charges after he allegedly stole two vehicles, later crashing one into a home at 400 South 15th Street in Dakota City, Nebraska.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Department say just before 11:30 p.m., they received a call of a reckless driver heading northbound on Highway 77. When officials attempted to stop Waters, they say he fled and later ditched the vehicle in a cornfield.

A short time later, the department says they received calls of a suspect attempting to a steal  vehicles near the Roth Industrial Park. While investigating that report, officials say they were advised a vehicle struck a house in Dakota City.

"It blew the sheet rock off that room, that bedroom. It blew the moldings off, it shook the ceiling fan off," said Bryan Miller, eyewitness.

Officials say when Waters lost control of the vehicle, he skidded and crashed into the northwest corner of the home. It caved in part of a bedroom wall. No one was inside the room at the time, but the owner was in another room. She wasn't hurt. Damages to the house and stolen vehicle are expected to exceed $35,000 officials say.

Waters faces charges of Theft, Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence and Flight to Avoid Arrest . He's currently being held at the Dakota County Correctional Facility on $75,000 bond.
