FORT DODGE, IA (KTIV) -- -

Former Akron-Westfield and Bishop Heelan standout Sarah Parkinson won the Jack North Award at the state tournament on Thursday.

That award is given to the most outstanding softball player from the previous season.

Parkinson played on two state title teams at Akron-Westfield, winning tourney MVP honors both times.

Parkinson tied the state record for most extra-base hits in state tournament history and just finished her first season as a catcher at Iowa State.
