EVANSDALE, Iowa (KWWL) -
A law enforcement official says the search for two missing Iowa girls is being classified as an abduction after an FBI team failed to find their bodies in Meyers Lake.
10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins disappeared a week ago while riding bikes near the lake.
FBI divers are confident the bodies are not on the bottom of the lake in Evansdale.
A number of boats pulled into the parking area for Meyers Lake early Friday morning. Authorities from all over eastern Iowa came to help in the search.
FBI dive teams went on foot and some searched by boat.
For the past week, Meyers Lake has been a focal point for authorities.
Rick Abben, Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office - "This is the last place they were seen so that's the main focus, but were getting tips from different places and so far we go where even the tips come in from."
The family has always said the girls were not in the lake.
The Cook-Morrissey family has retained a lawyer after being accused as suspects in the disappearance of the girls.
Misty Cook-Morrissey said, "We were woke up in the middle of the night after we had fallen asleep after the sixth night by the DCI. We were put into rooms and we were for three hours accused of taking our children and told we did it. We need to tell when the children are at and it was a pretty intense coercion."
Misty Cook Morrissey says she misses her daughter and is getting frustrated with the lack of progress.
"They don't have anything else. We been to a briefing last night. There's no other information no new leads, no evidence, there's nothing and after seven days, I realized it's probably very frustrating for them that they haven't been able to come up with something and it's frustrating for us as well," she said.
Authorities will keep a closer watch on the father of one of the two missing cousins.
A judge granted a prosecution request Thursday to put Dan Morrissey under pretrial supervision while he faces September trials in two drug cases.
This means parole officers will make sure Morrissey doesn't violate the terms of his release.
