Kris Sanchez collected his 53rd RBI in Sioux City's 7-6 loss to St. Paul
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Down 6-2 heading into the eighth inning, the St. Paul Saints erupted for five runs in the top of the frame to come from behind and beat Sioux City 7-6 Saturday night at Lewis & Clark Park.
Nick Schumacher threw seven strong innings and struck out six. Closer Chris Bodishbaugh gave up all five runs and took the loss.
First baseman Kris Sanchez collected his 53rd RBI in the bottom of the third inning with a single to right.
Mike Murphy led the X's at the plate finishing 2-for-3 with three RBI. Brandon Newton, Wally Backman, Mike Bisenius and Ray Serrano each had two hits a piece.
Sioux City took a 1-0 lead in the first when Serrano scored on a wild pitch.
St. Paul tied the game up in the third on a fielder's choice. In the bottom half of the frame Sanchez laced a single into right scoring Newton to give the X's a 2-1 lead.
The Explorers added two more in the fourth and in the sixth, highlighted by Murphy's two run single.
Leading 6-2 heading into the eighth, the Saints opened the inning with four straight singles. St. Paul collected five of their 12 hits in the inning en route to the comeback win.
Game three of the series is set for 6:05 Sunday at Lewis & Clark Park.
