Lawton-Bronson's first trip to the state baseball tournament ended with a 5-4 loss to Lisbon on Monday in a first round game in Class 1A. Lisbon scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win.
The second-ranked Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Austin Lefler opened the game with a double and came home on a single by Matt Smith. The Eagles increased the lead to 3-0 with two runs in the second inning. Zach Anderson and Lefler had RBI singles in the frame.
After Lisbon cut the lead to 3-2, Lawton-Bronson scored again in the fifth. Anderson's RBI ground out brought home Dylan Lower and it was 4-2 after five innings.
Lisbon scored one in the sixth and then won the game when Brock Givens singled home the winning run with one out in the seventh. Marshall Morgan threw a complete game for Lisbon to improve to 16-1.
The Eagles finish with a 31-4 record. Lisbon (35-7) will play in the 1A semifinals on Thursday at 8:00 PM.
