YANKTON, S.D. (AP) -
Last year it was the flood, this year trash seems to be the problem at Gavins Point Dam in Yankton, South Dakota.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says they've been finding litter below the dam on both sides of the Missouri River. They say it's worst on Mondays, as the trash accumulates over the weekend. Corps officials say most of the cans, bottles, bags, and bait boxes are left behind by people fishing on the shores.
That's why they're sending out a reminder to everyone to throw out or recycle your trash, and don't leave it along the river.
