The Sioux City Explorers banged out 14 hits and beat Gary-Southshore, 5-2, on Wednesday night.
Mike Murphy, who had two hits last night, hit his first homer of the season. Six different X's had two hits as Sioux City improved to 29-36 on the season.
Ty Marotz picked up the win, going 6 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on six hits with three strikeouts. The Railcats scored single runs in the first and second innings, but were held scoreless after that.
That three game series ends on Thursday. Sioux City continues their road trip in Lincoln on Friday.
