NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -

An unattended pan on a stove is responsible for an apartment fire in Norfolk Wednesday that caused extensive damage to a basement apartment.  Norfolk Fire Captain John Reding says crews were called to 1005 North 6th street around 1:45pm Wednesday where they found extensive smoke coming from one of the basement apartments.

It took just minutes to extinguish the fire, however heavy smoke and fire damage was reported to the apartment of origin and residual smoke damage to adjoining apartments.  No one was injured in the incident.  The building is owned by Union Progress and managed by Dover Management.
