UPDATE: 11-year-old girl dies after drowning in northwest Iowa pool

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (KTIV) -

The name of young girl who died after she went underwater at a northwest Iowa pool Wednesday has been released. Kaitlyn M. Heyden, 11, of Inwood, Iowa died at a Sioux Falls hospital after authorities say she was found submerged at the Rock Rapids Pool around 7:30 Wednesday evening.

Authorities say bystanders and lifeguards pulled Kaitlyn from the water while emergency crews were en route. An autopsy will be performed to determined if a pre-existing medical condition played any role in the incident.
