A rough third inning cost the Sioux City Explorers the final game of their series in Gary on Thursday night. The X's gave up four runs and committed three errors in the third inning and ended up losing 5-2.
Shortstop Ryan Priddy, right fielder Peter Barrows and pitcher Nick Schumacher all committed errors in the third. The Railcats also had five hits in the big frame.
Sioux City took the lead in the second inning on a solo home run by first baseman Kris Sanchez. It was Sanchez' team-leading 13th homer of the season. The X's struggled to score after that, leaving the bases loaded in the fifth. Yuskuke Inoguchi doubled and scored on a double play in the ninth inning.
Sioux City (29-37) will start a three-game series in Lincoln on Friday.
