New Sioux City elementary keeps school cool

School is just a few weeks away and some have an extra special reason to be excited for classes to start, a new school. Parents, students, and school board members took their very first look inside Spalding Park Elementary. The building will hold 600 students on two floors. Each grade has its own wing. The wings are color coded to make navigating the hallways easy for the littlest learners.

Much of Siouxland will wait for Lewis & Clark water

It took 22 years of work, but water is now flowing through the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System. Water is now running to 11 of its 20 member cities and rural water systems, across South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. The other nine members, like Hull, Sibley, Sioux Center and Sheldon, will have to wait to see the tap turned on in those communities.

Sioux City police start using license plate reader to help cops spot cars

The Sioux City Police Department will have another new hi-tech tool at their disposal, starting in August. One of the department's cars will be equipped with a license plate reader. It's a camera on top of a squad car that scans license plates more quickly and accurately than an officer could. That allows for many more license plate checks per day.

Alta, IA woman sets up fundraiser to bring seizure dogs to town

Those at risk for seizures may want to seek the help of man's best friend. Adelyn Ferrin is trying to raise money for a seizure dog. They're trained to detect when someone is showing signs of abnormal behavior to bark, tug on them, and even dial 9-1-1 if needed. Ferrin is planning a fundraiser in August to raise money for the dogs.
