SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Siouxlanders tied on their sneakers and made a big difference in the world of research for breast cancer.
The Siouxland Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation says its Race for the Cure in May raised $175,000. More than 2,800 people took part in the Mother's Day 5K run/walk and 1mile run/walk.
Up to 75 percent of the funds raised stay in a seven-county service area in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota to provide mammograms and other breast health services for underserved and underinsured women. The rest will go to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation for research.
