The Sioux City Explorers (32-40) outlasted the Gary SouthShore RailCats (31-40) on Thursday, squeaking out a 6-5 win at Lewis and Clark Park. There were seven lead changes in the game.
Former Bishop Heelan and Wayne State standout Mike Bisenius had a two out, two run double in the seventh inning to put the X's ahead for good. Bisenius also singled in the third inning after replacing Brandon Newton in the lineup in the third inning.
Aaron Correa got the win in relief. Gary managed just one hit off of Correa, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.
Chris Bodishbaugh pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the X's to pick up his 15th save of the season.
Winnipeg will come to Sioux City to start a three game series on Friday.
