SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Two accidents, involving several vehicles brought traffic to a stop on Interstate 29 in Sioux City.
Police say it happened around 3 p.m. Friday near the exits for Singing Hills Boulevard and the Highway 20 bypass.
It's an area that's under construction and has head-to-head traffic. Police say seven vehicles were involved, with two rear-end collisions.
The first accident involved two cars, and the second had five, with one crossing into on-coming traffic on the Southbound side.
Officers say there were no major injuries, but three people were taken to the hospital. Traffic was diverted from the scene, but most cars were at a dead stop for 45 minutes on the interstate.
There was also a smaller accident, while they were cleaning up the first two, in which a car clipped the awning off of an RV.
Two drivers were cited for failing to leave a safe stopping distance, and the third for an improper merge.
