Troops and veterans honored at Woodbury County Fair

MOVILLE, Iowa (KTIV) -

It was warm, but a good night to take in the Woodbury County Fair for Military Appreciation Day.

Many veterans and active duty service members came out for a "Salute our Troops" event.

The 185th Air Refueling Wing not only posted the colors, they provided a history of the flag, showcasing its changes over the years.

Organizers say it's about honoring those who've defended Old Glory and the families who support them.

"I've been wanting to do this for many years because I've always admired the veterans very much. I'm glad I can finally do it." said Bonnie Flathers, Woodbury County Fair Board.

"It's the support of the people at home that makes it so the people able to serve and keep focused on the mission that we have, wherever that mission is," said Lt. Col. Merrill Muller, 185th Wing Chaplain.

KTIV's Kristie VerMulm had the honor of being the emcee for the event.
