SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
A motorcyclist is in the hospital after a collision in Sioux City's Morningside neighborhood.
The biker was not wearing a helmet, and officials say he suffered head injuries, but they don't know how severe the injuries are.
He was taken to Mercy Medical Center to be treated. The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Lakeport and Morningside avenues.
The intersections to both streets were blocked off and traffic was rerouted.
The car driver was cited for failing to yield to a left turner.
"Motorcycle was Westbound on Morningside Avenue, had a green light," said Bruce Hokel of the Sioux City Police Department. "Car was eastbound on Morningside Avenue and went to turn north onto Lakeport in front of the motorcycle and the motorcycle struck the car."
Police haven't released the name of the driver and the motorcyclist.
