SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The non-profit that owns the gaming license for Sioux City's Argosy Casino has been up front about their plans to look for a new partner.
We know the name of one of the groups Missouri River Historical Development could be in talks with.
Lance Morgan, the CEO of Ho-Chunk, confirms to KTIV that they are seriously looking to apply for the casino license.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission opened up the process after MRHD and Argosy's parent company Penn National Gaming, couldn't come to an agreement about a land-based casino.
Morgan says the Winnebago, Nebraska-based Ho-Chunk intends to build more than just a casino, they also want to design a hotel.
MRHD President Mark Monson is keeping coy. Declining to shed light specifically on Ho-Chunk's interest he said, "We hope when the process begins we will have a number of applicants including Ho Chunk and other investment groups."
