MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) -
Gov. Terry Branstad will bring together community leaders and state and national experts later this year for a meeting on ways to combat bullying.
Branstad on Monday says he'll host the Governor's Bullying Prevention Summit on Nov. 27 in Des Moines. Branstad says Iowa must do more to stand up to bullying.
In April, a 14-year-old boy from Primghar committed suicide after he was bullied at school and online after telling people he was gay. In June, a Mason City girl and her mother sued the Mason City school district, saying it did nothing to protect the teen from bullying. And, a documentary on bullying released earlier this year featured a former Sioux City student.
