The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska says it will make a pitch to build a land-based casino in downtown Sioux City. Ho-Chunk CEO, Lance Morgan, says their proposal would be a $100 million investment and include a hotel. Ho-Chunk is the economic development arm of the tribe. Morgan says they would like to partner with Missouri River Historical Development, which has expressed an interest in ending its relationship with current casino owner Penn National.
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds are coming to Siouxland to host a series of town hall meetings. Tuesday, they'll be in Onawa, Denison, Wall Lake and Holstein. Wednesday, they'll be in Milford and Rockwell City. They say they want to hear from Iowans about what's on their minds.
Aspiring entrepreneurs made tracks for Spencer, Iowa on Monday. That's where the 9th "Pitch and Grow" workshop was held. It's a chance for people with business ideas to pitch them to experts. At the end of the day, the entrepreneurs voted on who gave the best pitch. Organizers say it's a good way to share ideas and a good opportunity for networking.
Leeds Pool goes to the dogs. The annual pooch paddle got underway Monday night with small dogs enjoying a cool dip with their owners.
