NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -
Norfolk city leaders
say a second bird collected in Norfolk has tested positive for West Nile
Virus. Health Official John Kouba says the infected crow was collected on
July 20th. Meanwhile, a blue jay collected on June 10th also tested
positive for West Nile and was the first indication for Madison County.
Kouba says with the detection of the second bird, collections for Madison
County will close for the 2012 season. He does warn residents that
while the dry weather has resulted in very few mosquito complaints, there are
still some areas where mosquitoes are present and have a high potential to
carry West Nile. No human cases have been reported in Madison
County.
