Estherville man charged with sexually assaulting girl

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (KTIV) -

A 56-year-old Estherville, Iowa man is accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl. John Marvin Hanson is charged with Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree, a Class B felony.

Estherville Police and the Department of Human Services began an investigation on July 25th after the mother of the girl reported that her daughter had been sexually assaulted.

Hanson was arrested on Tuesday and was placed into the Emmet County Jail awaiting an initial appearance before a magistrate. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
