SIOUX CITY, Iowa -
First it was Shawn Johnson, now it's Gabby Douglas.
Both trained in Iowa, so you can bet some Siouxland girls are getting "Gymnastics Fever."
Gymnasts like Kelsey Paz are dreaming of the Olympics.
Cara Burnett, Siouxland Gymnastics Academy coach, "That is the ultimate goal for any little girl that starts gymnastics, is they want to win the Olympics."
Gymnasts across Iowa have seen that dream become a reality. Four years ago, Des Moines native Shawn Johnson took the country by storm. And this summer, Gabby Douglas is doing the same.
Kelly Dornon-Heimsoth, owner of Siouxland Gymnastics Academy, "I've judged Gabby many times and so to see her on the big screen, winning a gold medal, it's wonderful."
And although on a little different stage, the Siouxland Gymnastics Academy tries to install the same characteristics.
Dornon-Heimsoth, said, "It's about building self-esteem and positive image and working hard, work ethic and good attitude. It's all rolled into one."
That confidence has translated into gold on the world's biggest stage.
Kelsey Paz, Sioux City gymnast, "It always amazes me how they, just like looking at the pressure of the Olympics and how the whole country, the whole world is watching them and they look like it's no big deal to them."
And with countless hours of practice under their belt, one slipup could cost them the gold.
Burnett, "If you can't discipline yourself mentally and physically to work hard and try and accomplish your goals, it doesn't mean anything to have talent."
