NEAR DENISON, Iowa (KTIV) -
Ten bridges across Iowa will be dedicated in memory of the ten Iowa State Patrol Troopers who have died in the line of duty during the patrol's 75 year history.
The first bridge will be dedicated Thursday in Tipton, Iowa. The final dedication will be in Denison on October 23rd. That's when the U.S. Highway 30 bridge near the Boyer River will be named in honor of Trooper Ralph Garthwaite. He was killed in July of 1955 when his patrol car was struck head-on by a drunk driver on Highway 30 near Dunlap. The public is invited to these dedication ceremonies.
