Roughly 87% of seats from both flights flying into and out of Sioux City are being filled.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
According to the latest statistics from American Airlines, roughly 87% of seats from both flights flying into and out of Sioux City are being filled. That number has risen each month, since flights began on April 3rd.
Regional Manager, Paige Teel, says that could mean more flights in the future but probably not until overcoming two hurdles.
"Primarily what happens with the contracts for our flight attendants and our pilots. So, that's really the next announcements that we need to wait for before we can start looking into adding any kind of service at this point," said Paige Teel, AmericanAirlines Regional Manager.
Impending contract decisions are a result of the airline filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November, something the airline hopes to climb out of by the end of this year.
